List of Dividends Declared in 2026 by Nigerian Companies

By NGX Pulse Published: April 11, 2026 Last Updated: April 11, 2026 ✓ FY 2025 Results Season

As Nigerian companies release their audited 2025 full-year financial results, dividend declarations are rolling in across sectors — from banking to consumer goods, energy, and real estate. This page is your single reference for all dividends declared in 2026 by companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).

The table below includes each company's dividend per share, any special dividend or bonus issue, the qualification date (the deadline to own shares and qualify), the closure of register period, AGM date, payment date, and the registrar handling the payout. All dividends are subject to 10% withholding tax (WHT) at source, unless otherwise stated.

This page is updated monthly as new declarations are filed with the NGX. Bookmark it and check back for the latest additions.

📅 Qualification Date

The cut-off date — you must own the shares on or before this date to receive the dividend.

🏦 E-Dividend Mandate

Dividends are paid electronically. Complete your e-mandate with the registrar to receive payment directly in your bank.

💸 Withholding Tax

A 10% WHT is deducted from all dividend payments before disbursement. Your net payout reflects this deduction.

📋 Registrar

Each company uses a designated registrar to manage its share register and process dividend payments.

Notes: "Total FY" figures in the Dividend/Share column represent the full financial year total including any interim dividend already paid. All amounts are in Nigerian Naira (₦) unless stated otherwise. Seplat Energy dividends are denominated in US Dollars (USD). Qualification dates shown are for the NGX (Nigerian Exchange) listing. Dual-listed companies (GTCO, Seplat) may have different qualification dates for their London Stock Exchange (LSE) listings.

How to Qualify for Dividends on the NGX

To receive a dividend declared by a Nigerian company, you must meet four conditions:

1. Own the shares before the qualification date. Your name must appear in the company's Register of Members on or before the qualification date. Under the NGX's T+2 settlement cycle (as of March 2026), you need to buy shares at least 2 trading days before the qualification date for settlement to complete in time.

2. Complete your e-dividend registration. Dividends are paid electronically in Nigeria. Download the e-dividend mandate form from the company's registrar, link your CSCS account number to a valid Nigerian bank account, and submit to the registrar.

3. Confirm your bank details are current. Outdated or closed bank accounts will result in failed payments. Contact the registrar to update your details if necessary.

4. Do not sell before the qualification date. Selling your shares on or before the qualification date disqualifies you from receiving the dividend.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a qualification date for dividends in Nigeria?

The qualification date (also called the record date or ex-dividend date) is the cut-off deadline. If your shares are settled in your CSCS account and your name is on the company's register on or before this date, you will receive the declared dividend. Missing this date by even one day means you will not be eligible.

How do I receive my dividend payment electronically in Nigeria?

Download and complete the E-Dividend Mandate Activation Form from your company's designated registrar (e.g., Coronation Registrars, Datamax, Africa Prudential, Meristem, Greenwich). Submit the form along with a copy of your CSCS statement and a valid ID. Your dividend will then be credited directly to your linked bank account on the payment date.

What is the withholding tax rate on dividends in Nigeria?

A flat 10% withholding tax (WHT) is deducted from all dividend payments in Nigeria. This is deducted at source by the company's registrar, so shareholders receive 90% of the declared dividend per share. Some distributions (like REIT income) may have different tax treatment — consult a tax advisor for specifics.

What is a bonus issue and how does it differ from a cash dividend?

A bonus issue (also called a scrip dividend or capitalisation issue) involves the company issuing free additional shares to existing shareholders, rather than cash. For example, a "1 for 5" bonus means you receive one additional share for every five you already hold. Bonus shares do not incur withholding tax. Some companies (like NGX Group and NAHCO in 2026) declare both a cash dividend and a bonus issue simultaneously.

What is the closure of register period?

During the closure of register period, no transfers of shares are processed. This is when the company "locks" its share register to compile the final list of eligible shareholders. Trading on the NGX continues during this period, but settlement of new share purchases into the register is paused.

I have unclaimed dividends — what should I do?

Unclaimed dividends are common in Nigeria, often due to incomplete e-dividend registration, outdated bank details, or dormant accounts. Contact the company's registrar directly (see the Registrar column in the table above) with your CSCS account number, share certificate, and valid ID to initiate a revalidation process. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also maintains an unclaimed dividends portal.
